A year ago, our entire project area was covered in invasive plants. Richard’s Tree Care removed them, then we planted native trees and shrubs and we covered the area with mulch. But some of the older trees in the project area had vines growing up them, weeds started popping up through the mulch, and most of the surrounding trees were covered in vines. So our invasive removal work continues.
For our April 10 workday, we focused on removing the vines, but in some cases, invasives such as multiflora rose needed to be removed to get to the vines. Our small group of volunteers made amazing progress on removing these weeds.
